After receiving funding from Creative Vic, The People of Cabaret are delighted to launch the second edition of The Mentorship, a six month programme of mentoring for new and emerging artists based in the state of Victoria who are Indigenous, Bla(c)k and/or of colour, guided by experienced IBPOC-identifying industry leaders within the Australian and international performing arts sector.

In an industry where formal guidance is often hard to come by, The Mentorship will act as a framework to encourage and support sustainable career development. Each mentee will be paired with a professional, practicing artist or arts worker, who will identify and assist in working towards specific goals. Each mentee will also have access to a series of talks and workshops designed to up-skill and elevate, as well as networking and paid performance opportunities.

Our Vision

The programme is designed for emerging or mid-career performers and creatives who are based in Australia, who already have a year or two of professional experience, or have experience in the performing arts.

There is no financial cost to be involved as a mentee, and our mentors are paid for their time and expertise, as are our workshop practitioners.

We are seeking expressions of interest from artists who identify as IBPOC, for both mentee (those wishing to learn) and mentor (those wishing to guide) positions. We empower our mentors as knowledgeable, respected professionals of our industry with useful experience to pass on, as well as empowering our mentees as professional creators who are serious about developing their career in the arts.

So what are you waiting for?!

Closing date to submit an EOI for either a mentor or mentee position is Monday, 18th July 2021.

If you’d like to know more, please email thementorship@thepeopleofcabaret.com or fill in the appropriate EOI form below if you wish to take part!
