The Directory

The Directory is a service to help connect artists who are Indigenous, Bla(c)k and/or people of colour (IBPOC) to more employment opportunities in workplaces which are safe, anti-discriminatory and racism free.

Creatives who are looking to hire IBPOC creatives must go through a safeguarding process, answering a series of questions about how they are actively conducting and implementing safe spaces in an otherwise very colonial creative industry, which is then reviewed by a team of IBPOC industry professionals know as ‘The Brief Committee’.

Successful applications will be forwarded on to the relevant artists, all other entries will be passed over to The Consult for additional support!

*** If you are here for the $50 Market Research, please click “I am looking for work in the arts”, fill in The Directory, and then complete the market research form which you will be directed to! ***

I am a performer, artist, creative or arts administrator who is Indigenous, Bla(c)k and/or a person of colour looking for employment in the arts

I am looking to hire performers, artists, creatives or arts administrators who are Indigenous, Bla(c)k and/or a person of colour

The Directory is designed to empower the artist in the process. Instead of the client having access to the artists information, we provide the artists with the job information to decide whether they want to apply for roles.

The Directory does not work as an agent by actively seeking these opportunities but rather acts as a bulletin board for producers, casting directors and other creatives to post their briefs and hopefully gain more interest from IBPOC identifying artists.

We believe that everyone has the fair right to have access to the same opportunities, but unfortunately, in today's current  society, marginalised communities are often left out of opportunities which will advance our careers or have to navigate workplaces which can be harmful for our safety and wellbeing.

Our vision is to see a performing arts industry which doesn’t need resources such as The Directory to exist.

Submit a job opportunity

In order for us to ascertain whether you are creating a safe environment for the artists within The Directory, please fill in the following form.

Your submission will be reviewed by The Brief Committee, a panel of community members within the arts, who will asses whether they are satisfied that you are taking the appropriate measure to create a safe and inclusive environment. Should your submission be unsuccessful, we will notify you and take you through to the next process. If The Brief Committee is satisfied we will let you know how many artists this brief was sent out to.

There are four sections to this submission form:

About you - our preliminary questions to direct you to the appropriate process

The Opportunity - your chance to provide more information about your brief

The Questions - 10 questions for us to understand how you are practicing anti-racism and decolonisation within the arts.

Payment - This service is based on a donated amount and all donations go directly to The Brief Committee

This form should take between 7-15 minutes to complete.
